ADVICE TO SCHOLARS by ANONYMOUS

First Line: THE HONOUR SCHOOL OF JURISPRUDENCE
Last Line: MASTERS THE SECRET OF THE FATES
Subject(s): OXFORD UNIVERSITY;SCHOLARSHIP & SCHOLARS;

THE Honour School of Jurisprudence
hardly illuminates its students;
nor does a course of Modern History
throw light upon the cosmic mystery;
and men who take degrees in "Stinks"
solve not the riddle of the sphinx;
the English School is -- credit me --
a matrimonial agency.
Theology, we must confess,
claims more, but offers rather less.
But murmur of the cosmic drum
throbs through the study of Lit. Hum.
And he who takes a first in Greats
masters the secret of the Fates.
