ON A STONE AT SALONICA by ANONYMOUS

First Line: WHEN MARATHONIS IN THIS CHEST OF STONE
Last Line: "ON EARTH BUT SORROW, WHEN HIS WIFE IS DEAD!"

WHEN Marathonis in this chest of stone
Laid his Nicopolis, vain tears he shed:
How vain! for what is left a man alone
On earth but sorrow, when his wife is dead?
