"ON A YOUNG LADY'S FAVOURITE CAT, SELS." by ANONYMOUS

First Line: "HAPPY PUSS, INDULG'D TO SIP"
Last Line: "THO ADMIRES, ADMIRING DIES"
Subject(s): "ANIMALS;CATS;PHILIPS, AMBROSE (1674-1749);"

Happy @3Puss@1, indulg'd to sip
Balmy sweets from @3Mira@1's lip!
On her lap indulg'd to sit;
From her hand indulg'd to eat,
Tea to drink from @3Mira@1's dish,
Cream'd and sugar'd to thy wish!
Thou alone hast pow'r to charm,
Pow'r her frozen breast to warm;
Powder'd smarts, a num'rous train,
Ogle, cringe and sigh, in vain,
One indulgent smile to gain:
Spite of ogles, cringes, sighs,
Tho admires, admiring dies.
