I LOOK IN MY HEART, by SARA TEASDALE Poet Analysis Poet's Biography First Line: I look in my heart as into a mirror Last Line: Or the ash of a fire put out by rain. Alternate Author Name(s): Filsinger, Ernest B., Mrs. Subject(s): Self | |||
I look in my heart as into a mirror That once reflected what will not return; The mirror is empty, I cannot bring back again The lost faces, but I discern Dimly my own eyes and the unsatisfied Dark fires with which they burn. Of the great moments, colored like jewels, Burning and beating with triumph or pain, Only these songs, as useless as ashes, Only this handful of songs remain -- My heart is left like an empty mirror, Or the ash of a fire put out by rain. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...A CAPELLA by JUAN FELIPE HERRERA AFTER LOOKING UP INTO ONE TOO MANY CAMERAS by HICOK.
