NIGHTFALL, by SARA TEASDALE Poet Analysis Poet's Biography First Line: We will never walk again Last Line: And stars come out in the skies. Alternate Author Name(s): Filsinger, Ernest B., Mrs. Subject(s): Night; Bedtime | |||
We will never walk again As we used to walk at night, Watching our shadows lengthen Under the gold street-light When the snow was new and white. We will never walk again Slowly, we two, In spring when the park is sweet With midnight and with dew, And the passers-by are few. I sit and think of it all, And the blue June twilight dies, -- Down in the clanging square A street-piano cries And stars come out in the skies. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE BREATH OF NIGHT by RANDALL JARRELL HOODED NIGHT by ROBINSON JEFFERS NIGHT WITHOUT SLEEP by ROBINSON JEFFERS WORKING OUTSIDE AT NIGHT by DENIS JOHNSON POEM TO TAKE BACK THE NIGHT by JUNE JORDAN COOL DARK ODE by DONALD JUSTICE POEM TO BE READ AT 3 A.M by DONALD JUSTICE ROUND ABOUT MIDNIGHT by BOB KAUFMAN |
