THE SEA-GRAVE, by SARA TEASDALE Poet Analysis Poet's Biography First Line: We buried her out in the open sea Last Line: For any storm to stir. Alternate Author Name(s): Filsinger, Ernest B., Mrs. Subject(s): Graves; Sea; Tombs; Tombstones; Ocean | |||
We buried her out in the open sea, Far from the lights and the harbor bars, Deep in the waves where she longed to be, Under a sky of stars. The sea was tired and still that night, It took her in forevermore. Our boat that bore a crimson light Turned back to find the shore. And when we reached the restless quay Our hearts were envious of her Who lay too deep beneath the sea For any storm to stir. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...HALL OF OCEAN LIFE by JOHN HOLLANDER JULY FOURTH BY THE OCEAN by ROBINSON JEFFERS BOATS IN A FOG by ROBINSON JEFFERS CONTINENT'S END by ROBINSON JEFFERS THE FIGUREHEAD by LEONIE ADAMS |
