In wilful riches I have found poverty And in great pleasure I lived in heaviness. In too much freedom I lacked liberty. Nothing but plenty caused my scarceness. Thus was I both in joy and in distress. And, in few words if I should be plain, In a paradise I suffered all this pain. | Discover our poem explanations - click here!Other Poems of Interest...PARTHENOPHIL AND PARTHENOPHE: MADRIGAL 14 by BARNABE BARNES SONNETS IN SHADOWS: 1 by ARLO BATES IN PRAISE OF PAIN by HEATHER MCHUGH THE SYMPATIZERS by JOSEPHINE MILES |
