TO A BLUEBELL, by EMILY JANE BRONTE Poet Analysis Poet's Biography First Line: Sacred watcher, wave thy bells! Last Line: Sorrow comes with lengthened years!' Alternate Author Name(s): Bell, Ellis Subject(s): Bluebells | |||
Sacred watcher, wave thy bells! Fair hill flower and woodland child! Dear to me in deep green dells -- Dearest on the mountains wild -- Blue bell, even as all divine I have seen my darling shine -- Blue bell, even as wan and frail I have seen my darling fail -- Thou hast found a voice for me -- And soothing words are breathed by thee -- Thus they murmur, 'Summer's sun Warms me till my life is done -- Would I rather choose to die Under winter's ruthless sky? 'Glad I bloom and calm I fade Weeping twilight dews my bed Mourner, mourner dry thy tears. Sorrow comes with lengthened years!' | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE BLUEBELLS OF NEW ENGLAND by THOMAS BAILEY ALDRICH BLUE-BELLS IN THE SHADE by ELIZA COOK BLUEBELLS by WALTER JOHN DE LA MARE THE BLUEBELL by MARGARET WADE CAMPBELL DELAND TO A BLUEBELL by HELENA COLEMAN SONG OF THE BLUEBELLS by GEORGE DARLEY BLUEBELLS by JULIANA HORATIA GATTY EWING A DAY DREAM by EMILY JANE BRONTE |
