RICH DAYS, by WILLIAM HENRY DAVIES Poet Analysis Poet's Biography First Line: Welcome to you rich autumn days Last Line: Into the loneliest lanes we know. Alternate Author Name(s): Davies, W. H. Subject(s): Autumn; Seasons; Fall | ||||||||
Welcome to you rich Autumn days, Ere comes the cold, leaf-picking wind; When golden stooks are seen in fields, All standing arm-in-arm entwined; And gallons of sweet cider seen On trees in apples red and green. With mellow pears that cheat our teeth, Which melt that tongues may suck them in; With cherries red, and blue-black plums, Now sweet and soft from stone to skin; And woodnuts rich, to make us go Into the loneliest lanes we know. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...OUR AUTUMN by ELIZABETH AKERS ALLEN AN AUTUMN JOY by GEORGE ARNOLD A LEAF FALLS by MARION LOUISE BLISS THE FARMER'S BOY: AUTUMN by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD A LETTER IN OCTOBER by TED KOOSER AUTUMN EVENING by DAVID LEHMAN EVERYTHING THAT ACTS IS ACTUAL by DENISE LEVERTOV A BIRD'S ANGER by WILLIAM HENRY DAVIES |
