ACHIEVEMENT'S SILVER CRY, by MARGARETE ROSE AKIN First Line: Within my castled mind a gleaming page unrolls Last Line: Achievement's silver cry vibrates my tongue, my throat. | ||||||||
Within my castled mind a gleaming page unrolls. Success is written large within its curling scrolls, And dares me, line on line, to compass higher goals. The bridge that led across is worn by former strain, With inlaid hollows, where the soul-marks groove and grain -- A telltale struggle pitting both my heart and brain. Ambition's ramparts echo a final bugle note -- Elation whips beyond her leashing castle-moat -- Achievement's silver cry vibrates my tongue, my throat. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ON DONNE'S POETRY by SAMUEL TAYLOR COLERIDGE THE VICAR OF WAKEFIELD: SONG by OLIVER GOLDSMITH THE CONVERGENCE OF THE TWAIN; LINES ON LOSS OF THE TITANIC by THOMAS HARDY THE SUBALTERNS by THOMAS HARDY THOSE VARIOUS SCALPELS by MARIANNE MOORE SUMMER BY THE LAKESIDE by JOHN GREENLEAF WHITTIER BARCAROLE: DE VIGNY by E.
