THE LETTER, by MUHAMMAD AL-MU'TAMID II First Line: I wrote, and in my heart was burning Last Line: The dew upon the waking rose. Alternate Author Name(s): Mu'tamid, Al-; Al-mu'tamid Of Sevilla | ||||||||
I wrote, and in my heart was burning The grief of parting, and that yearning They only realise Who lose eternal paradise. My pen no single letter traced, But that my tears as swiftly raced To write upon my cheek The words my anguished heart would speak. But for the quest of glory high My lovesick heart were lief to fly To thee this hour, as flows The dew upon the waking rose. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...PARLIAMENT OF WOMEN: PRAXAGORA REHEARSES by ARISTOPHANES PSALM 87 by OLD TESTAMENT BIBLE THE GREY MONK by WILLIAM BLAKE THE ELDER WOMAN'S SONG: 4, FR.
