The toils and pains of an honest day
Are redeemed by more than gold can pay.
The toll of time and strength and heart
Is paid by joy and contentment -- in part --
The joy of a task that is well done,
The contented heart that asks aught of none.
In part, these pay, but the sum of the whole
Is the love of God and man -- all told.
