First Line: A land of softly blended night and day
Last Line: And stills the weary heart beneath its beam.
Subject(s): Forests; Woods

A land of softly blended night and day
Where shadowy mists through forests dimly shine,
And like a canopy of dusk entwine
The mournful firs, which murmuring rock and sway.
From parted skies a single sunlit ray
Falls on the dull expanse. In ripples fine
As threads of gold it gleams, a quivering line.
Its gentle glow bids deepening twilight stay.
So, in a human life by sadness worn,
Of love devoid, toiling alone through life,
There falls a light of hope divine; a stream
Across the gray to brighten and adorn
The soul oppressed. Its sweet grace softens strife
And stills the weary heart beneath its beam.
