The clouds pregnant with rain Grow darker and contract As they give birth To the gentle rain drops. The modest cloud maidens Bathing in the silver tinted rain Blushed rosily and sped away As the sun god boldly approached. The sea is a wrinkled old woman Waving her rippling arms At the slightest wind of annoyance. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SONOMA FIRE by JANE HIRSHFIELD AS THE SPARKS FLY UPWARDS by JOHN HOLLANDER WHAT GREAT GRIEF HAS MADE THE EMPRESS MUTE by JUNE JORDAN CHAMBER MUSIC: 19 by JAMES JOYCE DIRGE AT THE END OF THE WOODS by LEONIE ADAMS BUILDING BLOCKS by VIRGINIA A.
