BOREAL SONG, by JEAN ANDERSON First Line: Upon this winter night a floating arch Last Line: The player draws the bow across the strings! Subject(s): Winter | |||
Upon this winter night a floating arch Low-spans the North, and lightly tosses high A gleaming splendor like the Viking's march On Woten's buoyant bridge across the sky; Again the fluent flame darts high, as though It signalled to Valhalla's land of light, And now the far-flung airy streamers glow With mingled tints in rare prismatic flight ... Then lo, Aurora's boreal beauty sings; The player draws the bow across the strings! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...LOOKING EAST IN THE WINTER by JOHN HOLLANDER WINTER DISTANCES by FANNY HOWE WINTER FORECAST by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN AT WINTER'S EDGE by JUDY JORDAN CHAMBER MUSIC: 34 by JAMES JOYCE |
