FORCE, by LOUIS ARAGON First Line: We have done good they have done evil Last Line: That we certainly have not wholly wasted our day. Subject(s): Strength | ||||||||
We have done good they have done evil We have prevented an untried motorist From running down a blindman. First Point Then extending a hand above all helpful We crossed Perierey Boulevard With a mother laden with nurslings. Second Point We have tipped our hats to all the passing funerals We have overwhelmed with scorn and abuse All the fops and all the other goodfornothings Third Point In our simple ardor we have freely bestowed Encouragement on all the good old fellows On laborers schoolchildren and on windows Fourth Point On orphans on employees of the Metropolitan On bootblacks on professionals Of the word on messengerboys In a Word Like fine old Emperor Trajan We can verily say on this sparkling pleasant evening That we certainly have not wholly wasted our day. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE MAN SPLITTING WOOD IN THE DAYBREAK by GALWAY KINNELL RESENTMENT by RICHARD ALDINGTON I WILL NOT BE CLAIMED by MARVIN BELL FRESCOES FOR MR.
