Admiral, admiral, Sailing your caraval Into the west, What will you find as the end of your quest? For your king Ferdinand Here was a goodly land, India the old; Balm-breathing spice groves and rivers of gold. Admiral, admiral, Sailing your caraval Into the blue, Greater your gift to your king than you knew! Did you dream, admiral, Sailing your caraval, Honor and fame, Blazoning titles might rest on your name? You found, nor fame nor gold; A dungeon deep and cold. A vast domain Weaves still its thought in the words of old Spain? Adventurer supreme, The fabric of your dream An alien race Buildeth, though far remote of tongue and place. Not in vain admiral, Sailing your caraval Into the west: Freedom and peace is the end of your quest! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SAILS OF MURMUR by ANSELM HOLLO THE RIME OF THE ANCIENT MARINER by SAMUEL TAYLOR COLERIDGE TOM BOWLING ['S EPITAPH] by CHARLES DIBDIN HOW'S MY BOY? by SYDNEY THOMPSON DOBELL LOVE AT SEA by THEOPHILE GAUTIER DECLASSE by ANNA EMILIA BAGSTAD |
