WHY DID YOU DEPART AT DUSK?, by CLARISSA M. BAILEY First Line: On your last journey, why did you set out at dusk? Last Line: Of earth? -- for, unafraid, at dusk you went away. Subject(s): Dawn; Dusk; Travel; Sunrise; Journeys; Trips | ||||||||
On your last journey, why did you set out at dusk? You, who had always loved the dawn, Ne'er venturing forth till night was gone, -- Then why, that last, last time, did you depart at dusk? Or, in his radiant exit, did the King of Day Inspire you with courage and gently helm You to a fairer dawn beyond the realm Of earth? -- for, unafraid, at dusk you went away. | Discover our poem explanations - click here!Other Poems of Interest...RICHARD, WHAT'S THAT NOISE? by RICHARD HOWARD LOOKING FOR THE GULF MOTEL by RICHARD BLANCO RIVERS INTO SEAS by LYNDA HULL DESTINATIONS by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN THE ONE WHO WAS DIFFERENT by RANDALL JARRELL THE CONFESSION OF ST.
