MY HEART, by BERNICE BAIRD First Line: If you could see into my heart Last Line: With joy instilled . . . It wills to live! Subject(s): Desire; Love | |||
If you could see into my heart And find the aches, and where they start, The vial of tears that's instilled there Made of that which angels share . . . If you could see the heavenly strings So delicate . . . yet tender things . . . You would not wish to make them wail With mournful sobs, as in travail, But you would seek to make them sing Of life, of joy, of everything. The heart is, ah, so sensitive, With joy instilled . . . it wills to live! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE INVENTION OF LOVE by MATTHEA HARVEY TWO VIEWS OF BUSON by ROBERT HASS A LOVE FOR FOUR VOICES: HOMAGE TO FRANZ JOSEPH HAYDN by ANTHONY HECHT AN OFFERING FOR PATRICIA by ANTHONY HECHT LATE AFTERNOON: THE ONSLAUGHT OF LOVE by ANTHONY HECHT |
