A SEA OF WHEAT, by ALICE BAKER First Line: I look at waves on a golden sea Last Line: So rich as a field of wheat. Subject(s): Food & Eating; Hunger; Wheat | ||||||||
I look at waves on a golden sea, On a sea that has no foam, A sea that tosses and ripples and shines, And a sea that does not moan. No madcap breakers ever crown your waves, Or storms ever bring despair, But the comforting good of wholesome food Is nurtured and treasured there. A sheet of pearls overspreads your waves Pearls that are good to eat. In all the world there is no sea So rich as a field of wheat. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...A THRESHER OF WHEAT TO THE WYNDES by JOACHIM DU BELLAY WHEAT by FRANCIS ALEXANDER DEWSON KANSAS (2) by HARRY HIBBARD KEMP SONG OF THE WHEAT by ANDREW BARTON PATERSON IN A WHEAT FIELD by CHARLES DAVIS PLATT WHAT IT TAKES by DOROTHY F.
