LINES TO A FITFUL LOVER, by
First Line: I thought that when you left
Last Line: I really couldn't wait.
Subject(s): Deception; Hearts; Love

I thought that when you left,
Life, for me, would cease to be.
Of love and pride and all bereft,
And nothing more was left to me.

It wasn't love, but only pride
That lay there crushed and beaten.
I see it now, too well, to hide,
Since other dusts I've eaten.

What stupid tears were shed for you
Who now comes back so late.
You see, my dear, that's over now
I really couldn't wait.
