OF A WINNOWER OF WHEAT TO THE WINDS, by JOACHIM DU BELLAY Poet's Biography First Line: To you, light troop, I bring Last Line: About the heat of day. Alternate Author Name(s): Du Bellay, Joachim Subject(s): Flowers | |||
To you, light troop, I bring, (You, who with wandering wing Over the wide world pass, And, when your murmurings wake, So sweetly trouble and shake The shadow-shaken grass) I bring these violets, Lilies and flowerets, I bring these roses too; These roses rosy-red Are freshly gathered; These pinks I bring for you. With your cool breath and sweet This plain a-stir with heat In passing fan, I pray; The while I labour sore At my wheat-winnowing floor About the heat of day. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THEY SAW THE PROBLEM by MARK JARMAN SHAKE THE SUPERFLUX! by DAVID LEHMAN THE M??TIER OF BLOSSOMING by DENISE LEVERTOV TANKA DIARY (6) by HARRYETTE MULLEN VARIATIONS: 17 by CONRAD AIKEN FORCED BLOOM by STEPHEN ELLIOTT DUNN RUINES OF ROME by JOACHIM DU BELLAY |
