THE DAY, by MARGARET ESTELLA BIGHAM First Line: I love the early morning Last Line: The air is fresh alway. Subject(s): Day | |||
I love the early morning, At the time of break o' day, The rose is full of fragrance, The air is fresh alway. I love the midday hour, The time of the noontide heat, I take a short siesta, From all weary tasks replete. I love the evening shadows, The sun having died away, A reverie awakens Of joys of a bygone day. And when the day is ended, And when nature's balmy sleep In gentle arms enfolds me, And her loving vigil keeps, To guard me till the morning, At the time of break o' day; The rose is full of fragrance, The air is fresh alway. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...EARLY RISER by NAOMI SHIHAB NYE THE LOVE POEMS OF MARICHIKO: 19 by KENNETH REXROTH THE THIN EDGE OF YOUR PRIDE: 13 by KENNETH REXROTH SPENDING THE DAY ON A SLEEPING PORCH by REBECCA WOLFF THE BEACON; A MUSICAL DRAMA by JOANNA BAILLIE DAYS OF THE MONTH by MOTHER GOOSE TO MARK ANTHONY IN HEAVEN by WILLIAM CARLOS WILLIAMS THE EARLY MORNING by HILAIRE BELLOC WITH WHOM IS NO VARIABLENESS, NEITHER SHADOW OF TURNING' by ARTHUR HUGH CLOUGH |
