RAIN POOL, by BEATRICE MARY BILLING First Line: All yesterday it rained Last Line: How shallow depths reflect infinity. Subject(s): Rain | |||
All yesterday it rained And now tonight The rain pool fills the street With quivering light, Holding in shallow depths The evening sky, Red-flecked with sunset And dark birds that fly Around the old stone church on tower and tree. Tomorrow All the pavement will be dry; No trembling vision of the earth and sky Will stir the passer-by To quick delight As on this rain-splashed Gleaming street tonight. And leave me wondering at the mystery ... How shallow depths reflect infinity. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...DISTANT RAINFALL by ROBINSON JEFFERS CHAMBER MUSIC: 32 by JAMES JOYCE HEAVY SUMMER RAIN by JANE KENYON CROWD CORRALLING by MARGARET AVISON THE RAIN-POOL by KARLE WILSON BAKER ON THE GREAT ATLANTIC RAINWAY by KENNETH KOCH THE SUNFISH LAKE ROAD by BEATRICE MARY BILLING |
