THE END OF THE SUNSET TRAIL, by ALMA C. BINGHAM First Line: Daylight fading Last Line: At the end of the sunset trail. Subject(s): Evening; Homecoming; Sunset; Twilight | ||||||||
Daylight fading, Softens the sun's bright ray. Twilight falling, Tells of the close of day. Sweet winds blowing Up from the flow'ry dale, While I wait for your home-coming At the end of the Sunset Trail. Now down the side of the mountain I can see you coming along, Down through the pines and the aspens, And my joy o'erflows with a song. Here by our own little cabin While the light is beginning to fail, I am waiting for you in the gloaming At the end of the Sunset Trail. Twilight shadows, Now in the canyons lie. Cloud caps painted, In colors no artist can vie. Breezes blowing, Over the sea a sail, While now to you I am coming At the end of the Sunset Trail. Now down the side of the mountain I am swiftly coming along, Down through the pines and the aspens, And my heart responds to your song. Down by our own little cabin When the light is beginning to fail, I am coming to you in the gloaming At the end of the Sunset Trail. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...JOURNEY INTO THE EYE by DAVID LEHMAN FEBRUARY EVENING IN NEW YORK by DENISE LEVERTOV THE HOUSE OF DUST: 1 by CONRAD AIKEN TWILIGHT COMES by HAYDEN CARRUTH IN THE EVENINGS by LUCILLE CLIFTON |
