JENNIE HARRIS OLIVER, by THERESA DRULEY BLACK First Line: To you, sweet singer of the songs we love Last Line: Above them all, your notes so rich, so dear! Subject(s): Poetry & Poets | ||||||||
To you, sweet singer of the songs we love, The greatest tribute that our hearts can feel. You waft us off to regions far above The present world that seems so very real. We find there is no echo of unrest, Nor thunder clouds that loom above the hill, You give us courage that will stand the test; Your whispering note says, "Let's be calm, be still." Now spring is in your garden, row by row The jaunty crimson tulips bend and nod; The iris bed is blossoming below Rich-petaled boughs that speak to us of God. While madrigals of birds trill sweet and clear, Above them all, your notes so rich, so dear! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ENVY OF OTHER PEOPLE'S POEMS by ROBERT HASS THE NINETEENTH CENTURY AS A SONG by ROBERT HASS THE FATALIST: TIME IS FILLED by LYN HEJINIAN OXOTA: A SHORT RUSSIAN NOVEL: CHAPTER 192 by LYN HEJINIAN LET ME TELL YOU WHAT A POEM BRINGS by JUAN FELIPE HERRERA JUNE JOURNALS 6/25/88 by JUAN FELIPE HERRERA FOLLOW ROZEWICZ by JUAN FELIPE HERRERA HAVING INTENDED TO MERELY PICK ON AN OIL COMPANY, THE POEM GOES AWRY by HICOK.
