GLORIOUS illuminations, made on high By all the stars and planets of the sky, In just degrees and shining order plac'd, Spectators charm'd, and the blest dwelling grac'd. Through all th' enlighten'd air swift fireworks flew, Which with repeated shouts glad cherubs threw. Comets ascended with their sweeping train, Then fell in starry show'rs and glitt'ring rain. In air ten thousand meteors blazing hung, Which from th' eternal battlements were flung. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...BOTHWELL: PART 4 by WILLIAM EDMONSTOUNE AYTOUN IN PHARAOH'S TOMB by HAYDEN CARRUTH FOR THE INVESTITURE by CECIL DAY LEWIS ELEGY ASKING THAT IT BE THE LAST; FOR INGRID ERHARDT, 1951-1971 by NORMAN DUBIE L,ENVOI: IN OUR TIME by ERNEST HEMINGWAY VASHTI by JAMES WELDON JOHNSON LINES ON CARMEN SYLVA by EMMA LAZARUS TO CARMEN SYLVA (QUEEN OF ROUMANIA) by EMMA LAZARUS MIND IN CREATION by RICHARD BLACKMORE |
