MOURNING, by WILLA BLAKE First Line: Draw the shades across the window Last Line: For a heart has died today. Subject(s): Bible; Mythology; Silence | ||||||||
Draw the shades across the window -- Place a wreath of flowers by. Let there be no sound to mar it, If a lovely thing must die. Quiet -- in the endless gloaming -- Let no worldly breath invade. Time may heal the ache a little, Memories, like flowers, fade. Only let the scene be holy -- In the darkness kneel and pray; Silently --, a prayer of sorrow, For a heart has died today. | Discover our poem explanations - click here!Other Poems of Interest...QUIET AND THE SHELL by ROBERT KELLY A SONG OF SILENCE by LOUISA SARAH BEVINGTON TANKA DIARY (9) by HARRYETTE MULLEN 7 A.M., A MAN AND A WOMAN by LAURE-ANNE BOSSELAAR |
