MEMORIES, by
First Line: More fragrant seems the oleander bloom
Last Line: Of smiling lips that mock a heart that sighs.
Subject(s): Oleanders

More fragrant seems the oleander bloom
When dusky shadows with the moonbeams meet.
When snowy lilies shed their soft perfume
Come happy memories and bittersweet.

What memories can hover round a flower
Till one forgets the pleasure that it gave.
The jasmine fragrance has a haunting power,
Breathes romance and recalls an open grave.

A fading rose can strangely cast its spell,
And holds its glamour where it proudly lies.
If flowers could speak, the crimson rose might tell
Of smiling lips that mock a heart that sighs.
