LIFE'S PATTERN, by VERDA BORISFIELD First Line: I wove a pattern for my life Last Line: Grey threads of pain. Subject(s): Grief; Life; Strength; Sorrow; Sadness | ||||||||
I wove a pattern for my life: -- Each day shall hold Shining bits of happiness, Rose hues of gladness Shall glimmer in each fold. I'll share the burdens of others, I'll comfort the sick and old; Thus into the cloth of my happiness, I'll weave a thread of gold. But no sorrow shall ever touch me, As into my life I weave This glorious pattern of happiness, This pattern of rose and gold. God looked down on the fabric bright, "'Tis a beautiful pattern, frail and light, But it lacks of strength." Then into the fabric He gravely wove Grey threads of pain. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SONOMA FIRE by JANE HIRSHFIELD AS THE SPARKS FLY UPWARDS by JOHN HOLLANDER WHAT GREAT GRIEF HAS MADE THE EMPRESS MUTE by JUNE JORDAN CHAMBER MUSIC: 19 by JAMES JOYCE DIRGE AT THE END OF THE WOODS by LEONIE ADAMS FIRELIGHT by KATHERINE MANSFIELD |
