NIGHT WIND, by COE BOTKIN First Line: There is a song in the night wind Last Line: In marsh nest. Subject(s): Birds; Herons | ||||||||
There is a song in the night wind, Sweet to little green herons In marsh nest. (It might have been harsh Had the marsh bird sinned.) Sing! Sing solo If you must, but -- Sing! Sing with the night wind. Fuse your song with carols of the marsh dark Through the fragrant fern dusk. Mingle yourself with the fern dusk; Let the night wind chant a psalm to your soul Singing, thinking silence -- The lonely last silence, With the quietness of a little green heron In marsh nest. | Other Poems of Interest...PEOPLE AND A HERON by ROBINSON JEFFERS HERONS IN WINTER IN THE FROZEN MARSH by MARY OLIVER POEM OF THE ONE WORLD by MARY OLIVER |
