CREATIVE URGE, by EMMA BRADFIELD First Line: Through all the ages Last Line: Creative urge is everlasting. Subject(s): Art & Artists; Prehistoric Peoples | ||||||||
Through all the ages Imagery has been the off-spring Of creative urge. Prehistoric man mingled earths Of different hues to put on cave walls To satisfy this urge. To history ancient tribes bequeath The creative story of the hunt; Done in calcined bile, blood of oxen, And crushed lapis lazuli. Masters fashioned Medieval art; They blended colors by cryptic formulae, Invoking incantations over paints To give each a hidden meaning. Modern art struggles for rhythm of design In obedience to this mysterious urge. Every age is given Nature's palette With all colors spread To depict period images upon Life's canvas. This is but a gesture ... Creative urge is everlasting. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE INVENTION OF FILM by MATTHEA HARVEY IN THE NEOLITHIC AGE by RUDYARD KIPLING THE FIRST STORY by NATHALIA CRANE TO PALEOLITHIC MAN (RESTORED IN A MUSEUM) by FANNY HODGES NEWMAN THE PHANTOM COASTERS by EDWARD NOYES POMEROY PREHISTORIC SMITH; QUATERNARY EPOCH - POST-PLIOCENE PERIOD by DAVID LAW PROUDFIT ONCE THE PREHISTORIC MAN by JAMES RAGAN A MINOR POET by STEPHEN VINCENT BENET IN HOSPITAL: 4.
