SEARCHLIGHTS, by MILDRED SUTTON BRENEMAN First Line: When I come back Last Line: And the path of faint perfume. Subject(s): Homecoming; Memory | ||||||||
When I come back, All my memories are reborn. Along familiar streets they form, As faces, places, come in view -- Searchlights, piercing through To mad days that live again -- Glad days and Sad days too. A voice, a tune, A faint perfume Echo down a length of years, Awake emotions undefined Groping in a mist of tears, Searching for the hidden key To unlock the mystery Of the voice, the mocking tune, And the path of faint perfume. | Discover our poem explanations - click here!Other Poems of Interest...MEMORY AS A HEARING AID by TONY HOAGLAND THE SAME QUESTION by JOHN HOLLANDER FORGET HOW TO REMEMBER HOW TO FORGET by JOHN HOLLANDER ON THAT SIDE by LAWRENCE JOSEPH MEMORY OF A PORCH by DONALD JUSTICE BEYOND THE HUNTING WOODS by DONALD JUSTICE THE DREARY CHANGE by WALTER SCOTT TO MR.
