WELL to think, to write with ease Verses that the hearers please, Three delights of mind be these. God to love, your land, your dame, These the soul's three joys I name, Plunge it in this triple flame. Dance, and sounds of horns afar, Feasts and concords soft and rare, These three joys of body are. Joys of body, soul, and mind, All are for our wealth designed, Plunge in flames of each combined. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SHINE, REPUBLIC by ROBINSON JEFFERS NIGHT WITHOUT SLEEP by ROBINSON JEFFERS SEVEN LAMENTS FOR THE WAR-DEAD: 6 by YEHUDA AMICHAI A CAROL FOR THE NEW YEAR by EDWIN MARKHAM A SONG OF VICTORY by EDWIN MARKHAM |
