SUNSHINE AND SHADOW, by ROBERT BROWN First Line: The winds are laughing along the fields Last Line: So the river of time runs slow tonight. Subject(s): Aging | |||
The winds are laughing along the fields, The birds are singing, the flowers are fair; My feet are light on the hills of joy, And morning brings not a thought of care. The sunlight dances across the waves, And bright are your eyes, my heart's delight! And life is a song we two can sing -- And the river of time runs fast tonight. The winds are sobbing along the fields, The birds are silent, the trees are bare; My feet have forgotten the hills of joy And morning comes with its stab of care; The sunlight glances across the waves -- Your eyes are dim -- O my heart's delight! And life is a song one cannot sing So the river of time runs slow tonight. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...AFTER THE GENTLE POET KOBAYASHI ISSA by ROBERT HASS MEMORY AS A HEARING AID by TONY HOAGLAND AMOROSA AND COMPANY by CONRAD AIKEN GRAY WEATHER by ROBINSON JEFFERS |
