CREATED CLAY, by VIRGIL BROWNE First Line: I stood today on a mound of clay Last Line: The breath of god. Subject(s): Death; Rest; Soul; Dead, The | ||||||||
I stood today on a mound of clay Where soon my body will be laid away, My bones near those whom I love will lie And dissolve with the sod -- Yet, I shall not die! My spirit will soar to find its own As here on earth, it came unknown. My loved ones soon to follow me, Will be placed in this clay That I now see. Their souls will take their winged flight, To find my soul, through the long dark night Who knows -- it may not be dark 'neath the sod, Since created clay has felt The breath of God. | Other Poems of Interest...DOUBLE ELEGY by MICHAEL S.
