TWO VOICES, by VALERY YAKOVLEVICH BRYUSOV Poet's Biography First Line: Where are thou, my darling? Last Line: This is heaven here. Alternate Author Name(s): Brusov, Valery Yakovlevich | ||||||||
1ST VOICE WHERE art thou, my darling? Lean down over me. While I slept unfurling Dark wings threatened me. Night, with no dawn breaking, Held me in its thrall, And my heart was aching.... 2ND VOICE I hear someone call. 1ST VOICE Why art thou far parted? Void the air above; And my lips deserted Seek the lips they love. Why art thou not lying In the bed with me? Whence art thou replying? 2ND VOICE In the grave with thee. 1ST VOICE From the shroud's thick cover, Hands and arms, begone! Where art thou, my lover? Night will make us one. Words of love repeating, Unto thee I strive. Where's thy kiss, thy greeting? 2ND VOICE Art thou still alive? 1ST VOICE Thou, I know, art nigh me In this dark dumb place. Bend thy dear head by me; I will kiss thy face. Has the night above thee Made love disappear? Lov'st thou as I love thee? 2ND VOICE This is Heaven here. | Discover our poem explanations - click here!Other Poems of Interest...BENEDICTION by VALERY YAKOVLEVICH BRYUSOV EVENTIDE by VALERY YAKOVLEVICH BRYUSOV LENIN by VALERY YAKOVLEVICH BRYUSOV ORPHEUS AND EURYDICE by VALERY YAKOVLEVICH BRYUSOV SAINT SEBASTIAN by VALERY YAKOVLEVICH BRYUSOV THE COMING HUNS by VALERY YAKOVLEVICH BRYUSOV THE COMING HUNS by VALERY YAKOVLEVICH BRYUSOV THE FIERCE BIRDS by VALERY YAKOVLEVICH BRYUSOV THE STONECUTTER by VALERY YAKOVLEVICH BRYUSOV THE TRYST by VALERY YAKOVLEVICH BRYUSOV |
