A MOTHER'S SONG, by FRIEDA MARTINI BUCHEN First Line: My golden harp has one lone string Last Line: Thy tender lilt is sweet! Subject(s): Mothers | ||||||||
My golden harp has one lone string, -- A lock of baby hair, And, when I play it wistfully, It sings a love-born air. As hope's enthralling violin, Or lyre o' vireo, Resounded strings I touched of yore, Oh, dawn-bright long-ago! I play my treasured harp of gold, Though plaintively it sings, For never can the music low Awake the broken strings To vibrate e'er again with life, In harmony complete -- But, golden hair, thy melody, Thy tender lilt is sweet! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...MY MOTHER'S HANDS by ANDREW HUDGINS CONTINENT'S END by ROBINSON JEFFERS IN THE 25TH YEAR OF MY MOTHER'S DEATH by JUDY JORDAN THE PAIDLIN' WEAN by ALEXANDER ANDERSON |
