DOGS ABOUT THEIR BUSINESS, by CLARISSA BUCKLIN First Line: The dogs that go on errands of their own Last Line: Their very tails expressing sweet content. Subject(s): Animals; Dogs | ||||||||
The dogs that go on errands of their own, On rabbit hunt or search for buried bone, Show plainly that they want to be alone. As serious as detectives hunting clues Or cub reporters on the trail of news, They know their ends and do not ask our views. I like to see dogs neither called nor sent; They walk determined, on their business bent, Their very tails expressing sweet content. | Other Poems of Interest...TOMORROW I LEAVE TO EL PASO, TEXAS by JUAN FELIPE HERRERA SENTIMENTAL DANGERS by ANDREW HUDGINS SHOOTING THE DOG by JUNE JORDAN AFTER AN ILLNESS, WALKING THE DOG by JANE KENYON DANCING WITH THE DOG by SUSAN KENNEDY |
