THE MOUNTAIN STORM, by MILLARD FILLMORE BUMGARNER First Line: Stand up on high, ye crags and peaks Last Line: And sunshine paints the crags again. Subject(s): Mountains; Storms; Hills; Downs (great Britain) | ||||||||
Stand up on high, ye crags and peaks, Ye knobs o'er whom the storm cloud reeks! Your hoary heads lay bare once more, While lightnings flash and thunders roar! Ye boon companions of the storm, No cloud-burst wild can do you harm. From angry blackness falls the rain; The lightning strikes and strikes again; In streaming sheets on mountain walls The gushing liquid madly falls. The storm rolls on and fills the plain -- And sunshine paints the crags again. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...CALIFORNIA SORROW: MOUNTAIN VIEW by MARY KINZIE CONTRA MORTEM: THE MOUNTAIN FASTNESS by HAYDEN CARRUTH GREEN MOUNTAIN IDYL by HAYDEN CARRUTH IF IT WERE NOT FOR YOU by HAYDEN CARRUTH SOWINGS by MILLARD FILLMORE BUMGARNER |
