DISSONANCES, by RICHARD EUGENE BURTON Poet's Biography First Line: Oft in the midst of music rare Last Line: They were a part of the melody. Subject(s): Air; Harps; Life; Music & Musicians; Musical Instruments; Lyres | |||
OFT in the midst of music rare Comes a break in the fluent air; Seeming dissonances creep Into the chords once tender, deep. But, as the deft musician plays On to the end, the music strays Back to harmonies that are meet, Making the whole a thing more sweet. So, from the strings of the harp of life Notes may be struck with discord rife; But when the air is played, you see They were a part of the melody. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE GHOSTS LISTEN TO ORPHEUS SING by GREGORY ORR TO AN AEOLIAN HARP by SARA TEASDALE THE AEOLIAN HARP by SAMUEL TAYLOR COLERIDGE THE MASTER-PLAYER by PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR THE HARP by RALPH WALDO EMERSON THE AEOLIAN HARP; AT THE SURF INN by HERMAN MELVILLE THAT HARP YOU PLAY SO WELL by MARIANNE MOORE RUMORS FROM AN AEOLIAN HARP by HENRY DAVID THOREAU AEOLIAN HARP (1) by WILLIAM ALLINGHAM BLACK SHEEP by RICHARD EUGENE BURTON |
