THE AGELESS CHRIST, by B. L. BYER First Line: Christ of the council chamber Last Line: In poppies and poinsettias Subject(s): Jesus Christ | ||||||||
Christ of the council chamber, Christ of the ageless past; Christ of the prophet's vision, Christ that is first and last. Christ of the angel's burden, Christ of the Virgin's song; Christ of the chosen people, Christ of the pagan throng. Christ of the lowly manger, Christ of the Virgin Birth; Christ of the wise men and shepherds, Christ of the sin-cursed earth. Christ of an infinite power, Christ of undisturbed poise; Christ of a boundless love, Christ of eternal joys. Christ of the leprous sinner, Christ of the moral young man; Christ of the carping Pharisee, Christ of the wandering clan. Christ of my lonely hours, Christ when the troubles roll; Christ when my friends have turned away, Christ of my inmost soul. Christ of my dying hour, Christ of the other shore; Christ as the ceaseless ages roll, He's my Christ forever more! in Poppies and Poinsettias | Discover our poem explanations - click here!Other Poems of Interest...THE NONCONFORMIST'S MEMORIAL by SUSAN HOWE THE GREEN CHRIST by ANDREW HUDGINS MEDITATION ON SAVIORS by ROBINSON JEFFERS COMPANIONSHIP by MALTBIE DAVENPORT BABCOCK TO A WREN ON CALVARY by LARRY LEVIS THE TRANSFIGURATION by EDWIN MUIR SOUNDS OF THE RESURRECTED DEAD MAN'S FOOTSTEPS (#3): 1.
