THE LITTLE FARM, by WITTER BYNNER Poet's Biography First Line: Tired, I went away from town Last Line: And bright dawn in his breast. Alternate Author Name(s): Morgan, Emanuel Subject(s): Farm Life; Agriculture; Farmers | ||||||||
Tired, I went away from town And wandered in the woods. . . . "Why not lay it wholly down -- That weight of doubtful goods?" Then, rested, I was discontent, Craved the compelling hours -- And took again on shoulders bent The walls and roofs and towers. But here is a man who measures his toil In Grenstone, then his rest: A little farm in his native soil And bright dawn in his breast. | Discover our poem explanations - click here!Other Poems of Interest...SHYNESS OF THE MUSE IN AN ALMOND ORCHARD by MARK JARMAN KICKING THE LEAVES by DONALD HALL THE FARMER'S BOY: WINTER by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD THE FARMER'S BOY: SPRING by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD THE FARMER'S BOY: SUMMER by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD THE FARMER'S BOY: AUTUMN by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD |
