HEAVEN'S hierarchies defend me! Ill-conditioned powers Give respite to us all! A shaft of light Shrieked from the empyreal fastnesses with showers Of fire and hail and adamant into night. Earth groaned and died. A universe of gloom Rushed to one central altitude. An ocean Of blood and blackness swallowed me up. A doom Fell round my limbs and robbed me of all motion. Chill was the ascending thunder of death.
