PRAYER, by EDNA WOODS CAMPBELL First Line: Life serves me well, o god; let me know it more Last Line: That they may comfort me when life, at last, brings tears. Subject(s): Prayer | |||
Life serves me well, O God; let me know it more. Let me feel my happiness in my heart's red core. Good years have I lived with love in gentleness and calm, A fragrance permeates my days and soothes me as a balm Soft on my brow; so over and over I fain Must remind myself that love also means pain. Let me realize how kind to me these years, That they may comfort me when life, at last, brings tears. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...UNHOLY SONNET 11 by MARK JARMAN LISTEN, LORD: A PRAYER by JAMES WELDON JOHNSON A PRAYER FOR THE FUTURE by GEORGE BARLOW (1847-1913) DIFFERENT WAYS TO PRAY by NAOMI SHIHAB NYE PRAYER DURING A TIME MY SON IS HAVING SEIZURES by SHARON OLDS WE WHO PRAYED AND WEPT by WENDELL BERRY PRAYERS AND SAYINGS OF THE MAD FARMER by WENDELL BERRY |
