First Line: Our lives like winds of march blow sweeping past
Last Line: I was to think life tedious and long!
Subject(s): Transience; Impermanence

Our lives like winds of March blow sweeping past.
It matters not since you have steered my course
To ports where piers are strong and ropes hold fast
And skies are never torn by lightning's force!
Time, grain by grain, slipped through the hour-glass,
While, toiling beneath an unrelenting sun,
We wove a tapestry of lad and lass
Till warp and woof are patterned into one.
For years discouragement has been our guest
But now, like magic sunset, gates swing wide
Allowing weary day to find its rest;
So this our day is drawn by outward tide --
And looking back I realize how wrong
I was to think life tedious and long!
