SONGS OF THE SEA CHILDREN: 56, by BLISS CARMAN Poet's Biography First Line: It was the tranquil hour Last Line: Because we wished as one. Subject(s): Dreams; Wishes | ||||||||
It was the tranquil hour Of earth's expectancy, When we lay on the Wishing Sands Beside the sleeping sea. We saw the scarlet moon rise And light the pale grey land; We heard the whisper of the tide, The sighing of the sand. I felt the ardent flutter Your heart gave for delight; You knew how earth is glad and hushed Under the tent of night. We dreamed the dream of lovers, And told our dream to none; And all that we desired came true, Because we wished as one. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...O TO BE A DRAGON by MARIANNE MOORE FOUNTAIN IN AVIGNON by LAURE-ANNE BOSSELAAR THE HOUR BETWEEN DOG AND WOLF: 1.
