MAYAN TEMPLE, by
First Line: Mayan temple, crude and tall
Last Line: In a temple made of clay.
Subject(s): Mayas; Temples; Mosques

Mayan Temple, crude and tall,
Broken stairway up a wall;
Curious Altar, mossey, old;
Curious carvings, cruel, cold.

Pictures on a carven cast
Hold my fancy of a past:
Feathered serpent, evil, bold,
Ruled in glory and in gold.

Serpents rule in gold today
In a temple made of clay.
