COME down, O Lord, and with us live! For here with tender, earnest call, The gospel thou didst freely give, We freely offer unto all. Come, with such power and saving grace, That we shall cry, with one accord, "How sweet and awful is this place, -- This sacred temple of the Lord." Let friend and stranger, one in thee, Feel with such power thy Spirit move, That every man's own speech shall be, The sweet eternal speech of love. Yea, fill us with the Holy Ghost, Let burning hearts and tongues be given, Make this a day of Pentecost, A foretaste of the bliss of heaven! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE END OF LIFE by PHILIP JAMES BAILEY SEVEN TWILIGHTS: 6 by CONRAD AIKEN THE BOOK OF THE DEAD MAN (#19): 2.
