APRIL ORANGE BLOSSOMS, by THOMAS CASEY First Line: Enthroned upon the leafy bough Last Line: To house the blossom in a hive. Subject(s): Oranges | |||
Enthroned upon the leafy bough Old April's orange blossoms now, By some affectionate device, Convey a sense of paradise. These clustered orange blossoms grow As white as woodland's winter snow They cast their fragrance to the sky, Believing that it will not die. Perhaps perfume will not exist Among the clouds, but though dismissed, I know it shall forever be A craving that is part of me. We cannot keep them either one, When month and blossom both are done; But bees are clever, they will strive To house the blossom in a hive. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE ORANGE PICKER by DAVID IGNATOW ORANGE SUTRA by TESS GALLAGHER CITRUS FREEZE by FORREST GANDER BLENHEIM ORANGES by PHILIP EDWARD THOMAS THE FLORIDA ORANGE by W.
